CASE STUDY · BRAINWAVE VR TO WEB
Real-time VR Content Development utilizing Brainwave Data
I reimagined a brainwave-driven VR interaction for today’s web.
Building on the core principle of the brainwave-linked VR system I designed and implemented in 2021–2022—real-time change in response to a signal—I created a separate 3D web scene driven by synthetic input in 2026.

STATIC PREVIEW
Signal → transform → audiovisual change
A preview of the signal → transform → audiovisual-response structure. The interactive scene loads only when opened.
A static preview is available.
The labels at each end quote patterns recorded in the earlier system. They are exploration modes, not measurements of the visitor.
01 · ORIGINAL PROJECT
What I built in the original project
The implementation scope I owned in the 2021–2022 brainwave-linked VR project.
- Brainwave collection and preprocessing through Brain API
- Real-time interaction logic in Unity-based VR
- Visual and auditory effects changing with signals
- Focus/relax pattern detection and a modular API
02 · WEB EXTENSION
My 2026 web interaction
Rather than recreating the original work, I made a new expression of its interaction principle.
- An abstract Three.js particle space
- A visitor-controlled synthetic input
- A new mapping of density, color, and motion
- Progressive transition from static record to WebGL
03 · SCOPE
Scope of this scene
A boundary between the original project and the new web scene.
- Restoration of the original VR scene, visuals, or audio
- Connection to real EEG data or measurement hardware
- Medical or cognitive state assessment
- Reproduction of original mappings, accuracy, latency, or sampling values

My role and outcomes in the original project
I summarize my role, implementation outcomes, and technical environment from the original project. The forms and colors above are not original artwork; they are a new expression I created in 2026.
- Role
- Technical Director / Data / 3D Graphics
- Period
- 2021.05 - 2022.11
I developed a VR experience whose visual and auditory effects change in real time in response to brainwave signals. I designed and implemented an in-house Brain API for data collection and preprocessing and owned the overall technical logic of the VR content.
Technologies used
Roles and responsibilities
- Technical Director/Data/3D Graphics: Designed and implemented the technical logic of VR content utilizing brainwave data.
Key outcomes
- System Implementation: Built the core logic for real-time interaction utilizing brainwaves based on Unity, and implemented it to effectively detect brainwave patterns such as "focus" and "relax".
- Secured Flexibility: Built a modularized Brain API to improve team development efficiency, allowing team members to utilize it without knowing its internal operations.
Technical environment
OS: Windows / Languages: C# / Engine: Unity / Tools: HTC VIVE SDK, Custom Brain API, VSCode, Git
